I’m not sure why I like paper art so much.   It looks very delicate, time consuming, and horribly frustrating.   I know I would completely shred whatever I was making after ripping it several times and absolutely losing my patience.   So it is basically anathema to me.   I guess that is why I find it so amazing… it seems unimaginable to me that anyone could do this, and then would continue to do it multiple times.   Amazing.

Examples of paper craft artists

I think my favourite is Peter Callesen though.

Okay…completely random but Dolly Parton is just hilarious.  I love her interviews and how she’s so honest and funny.   It’s a very weird mixture of her being self-deprecating, but also proud that she’s really trying to be the best person she can be.

So anyway… Great voice, great song writing, great sense of humour, great honesty, great charity.   She really just seems like an all around good person.

Anyone that can refer to themselves as looking like “hammered snot” is A.O.K. in my book.

Also for your listening pleasure I really dig this song…

Why don’t I come up with stuff like this?

Read more about it HERE

Breath-Taking!  I can only hope this is well done… if so this opens up so many new windows for zombie fiction that it is ridiculous.  Moby Dick?  War and Peace?  To Kill A Mockingbird?

Okay… So Utah Phillips.   He died in 2008 and I’m pretty bummed about it.   The weird part is that I agree with very little of the stuff he advocates, but I love to hear him say it.  He tells stories and passes on a lot of knowledge that seems to have fallen through the cracks.  The part I like the best is that they are stories.  He makes them feel personal and intimate for you.  He is basically what I always pictured in my mind when I hear the phrase “spin a yarn.”

So before I launch off on a free-speech well… speech… here are a couple of clips of good ole Utah… and a really cool stencil at the bottom that I’d love to get on a T-Shirt some day.

This is what Utah thinks was the funniest story he ever told was: Utah’s Funniest Story Ever
